Who is David Maker?

Filed under: Daily Dixie - 13 May 2008

If you’re running for Congress and you want me to vote for you, I need to know a little bit about you. So far I’ve seen one poorly done speech from Maker at Flashpoint. There’s a vague notion that he is a physicist involved in anti-gravity research. He apparently works for Raytheon in Huntsville, which is a top national research firm.

I know it’s hard for political newcomers to break in to the scene, and I find that unfortunate, but it is what it is. Parker Griffith has a voting record and a couple years of political grandstanding — we know where he is on the political map. If it’s your first run, you have to make an effort. I’ve tried to call and get Maker to tell me a bit about himself, but to no avail.

2008 Elections in Alabama

It has begun. What I’ve done so far is found here.

I haven’t decided whether or not to do a voting record for sitting Congresscritters (by which I mean US Representatives and Senators). If you have any voting record suggestions, feel free to suggest.

That was quick

May 13 in Alabama history

1914: Joe Louis, “The Brown Bomber,” is born near LaFayette. In 1926 the family moved to Detroit and Louis began boxing. Louis held the world heavyweight boxing title from 1937 to 1948 and made a division record 25 successful title defenses. His matches in 1936 and 1938 against Max Schmeling of Germany were seen by many as heroic fights between the democratic free world and the Nazi forces. Louis died in 1981.
